Peer specialists may experience challenges regarding fair pay, workplace hierarchies, entry into the field, and other employment issues.

This study will help us better understand the following questions:

  • What is employment like after certification? Has it changed since before the person got certified?

  • Is employment related to the local job market or other contextual factors?

  • How does certification change peer specialists’ social, psychological, and financial situation?

Results will be published and shared with the agencies that conduct training and certification. They will also be presented to advocates, policy makers, providers, and other researchers. The evidence gathered from this study will inform and strengthen advocacy for better pay and professional supports for peer specialists.

You can read the first two papers from the study using the links below, or email us at contact@livelearninc.net if you need help accessing the articles.
